I am using the one click publish feature to publish my website to the godaddy server. I select the option to precompile, but when I start the process, I get an error that says "Can't find the valid aspnetmergepath". What would cause this error? If I choose
not to precompile, it goes through and the files are transferred to the server as is.
Also, when I publish my website, do I still have to manually make changes to my web.config file (or any other files) so that it can function properly as it functioned on my local computer.

have you actually contacted GoDaddy to report this issue? It looks like the webdeploy feature is not setup properly on their server

I wasn't using web deploy on the actual godaddy server, but I was using the one click publish feature in visual web developer to publish to my site at godaddy.

if you cannot use the one-click publish feature, clearly the issue is with their server.
Have you tried the traditional FTP method? Does it work?

I'm with Go Daddy and came across your post.
Have you been able to upload your site to your hosting account with us?
If not I would like to assist. Feel free to reply or send me a private message with additional details about your site.

I am having an issue deploying to Go-Daddy's reseller hosting account. The membership & roles with the site map and trimming work when previewing from VS2012 but when the site is loaded to the hosting site the role is recognized, but the menu does not work
with the secuity in the subsequent folders web.config. I called and spent over an hour with support and was told it was my code and told to try searching here or at Microsoft. Does anyone have any tips? I am about ready to go to discountasp.net and host
this and other sites.

Instead of going to discountasp, I believe you can check asphostcentral.com. The price is fractionally lower and you get more feartures than you do on discountasp
About the issue on your site, can you please at least post the error message here? Thank you.

There is no error message, but rather no menu items showing.

clearly, there is a missing component on the server and you need to contact your host provider to find it out. Without the error message, it will be a bit difficult to track the issue
If possible, ask your host provider to look for the error message on the Windows Event Viewer
