I have a web application project that runs great in Visual Studio 2010. It has a service which it accesses which is local to the developer box and hosted by IIS. All is well in the world on that site. When I bring it to a new box that is running Windows
8 and Visual Studio 2012...the site project gets converted, it has only the warning that it needed to update the project file. When I compile (and I have not even converted the project to .NET 4.5) it complains that it cannot find the service. I checked that
the service is running and it does great in Visual Studio 2012. It works and all is fine on that side. The site cant find the service at all in the project, and neither can the Object Browser. I deleted the service reference and added it back in. Still wont
see it and it wiped out the service configuration in the config. I saw this before when I first introduced the service to the project but that was a year ago. Ideas?

I have create a simple project for test on my side, it has no issue running on Win 8 with VS2012. Do you expose metadata for your service? Please try with svcutil.exe tool to generate the
auxiliary files. Refer below thread.
In addition, please make sure you have installed the right version of .NET Framework.
