Can u tell me how to create a background process in asp.net c# web app, so that when I click on the print button the from and to date will be passed to the background process and the data is retrieved from sql server and retrieved in PDF FORMAT, and given
to the user as PDF.
Note: The main reason why I need this is, I am getting a huge load time when I retrieved the data from backend, the application got hanged because of the huge data. So that, I need to run this processing in the background itself.

this is typically done by using SSRS (Sql Server Reporting Services....
SSRS is integrated with Sql server and .net runtime... you can find lot about SSRS over net or start by looking at it
hope this helps...

Use Materialized views for different date ranges. Schedule a job (Usually runs in the Mod Night) that will take care of creating the views and updating the older one. Your application can query
from these materialized views and reduce the processing time at server end.
