But for some forums (asp.net, silverlight, IIS etc.) you have to access those under different websites. I think it's because those are managing by
Neudesic.

What exactly is the process of giving points and all.. Coz i am a contributor in asp.net forum while in silverlight forum i am a 0 point member..
Per my knowledge, the point system is to measure the community contribution you have given for each forum seperately. If you haven't contribute to the silverlight forum, there will be 0 points. Since you have contributed to the asp.net forum, there are points
for that. It helps others to recognize your contribution as well as for you to highlight yourself.
What is the exact use of this point system..?? How will we be benefited by this..?? I am helping others and in the process learning as well.. But Can i debit these points any where?? What is the use of these points.. How it will help us in long term??

And also, the other members will get benifit from this. It's much likely that you can
trust an answer from a person who have a higher number of points. Please note that by any mean, I'm not saying that people who have lesser points are not having the knowledge. It's all about the contribution they have made to this forum only. It's
entirely possible that there are ASP.net MVPs/ASPInsiders out there who have 0 points in this forum.

No you can't.

Can we put this in our resume??
Yes, go ahead. You can show it to anyone you like. :) Otherthan the things I've mentioned, there is no really monetary benift we can gain from the points. It's all about the community recognition after all.
Thank you once again ruchira.. Today u have cleared most of my doubts.. I am asking such things coz people are asking me.. So I have to know to answer them because i am a contributor by now..

Links for various forums
Oct 10, 2012 05:58 AM|geniusvishal|LINK
Hi all,
I have some query in my mind regarding the forums which are associated with msdn or microsoft ltd..
We have this asp.net forum(forums.asp.net),
and there is this webform forum(http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/category/windowsforms),
then we have this silverlight forum(http://www.silverlight.net/),
similarly there is sharepoint forum @ http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/category/sharepoint
and there are some forums @ http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/categories
and at http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-us/categories/
So basically i am confused with this system.. Everything is distributed and there is no linkage between these forums..
So is there any place from where we can access all of them under one roof..
What exactly is the process of giving points and all.. Coz i am a contributor in asp.net forum while in silverlight forum i am a 0 point member..
Please Enlighten me..

Hello,
You will get most of the forums under
http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/categories
But for some forums (asp.net, silverlight, IIS etc.) you have to access those under different websites. I think it's because those are managing by Neudesic.

Hi Vishal,
Your question has the answer within it self.
And also, the other members will get benifit from this. It's much likely that you can trust an answer from a person who have a higher number of points. If you are looking for a list of forum links, there's a fairly extensive list right here:
