i have a user control with Label and TextBox
i am able to assign values to the properties, and it works fine. But there is a small problem. the values assigned to the controls are not visible at design time and instead shows the controls ID.

You have to override the Render method to output the real value that you've assigned to the customized label.
protected override void Render(HtmlTextWriter output)
Text = new XMLResource().GetValueFromKey(Key, Text);
//call base class for rendering
If your class is inheriting from Label control.
