I am working on a .net application project which has oracle database as backend.
This database will be on a different server.
I need info what software installations I need to do on my machine so as to work on the oracle database like creating tables, stored procedure, functions etc..

First you check your oracle version and as per that installed oracle client (the same as management studio for sqlserver). download from here.
then an entry required in TNSnames.ora. The file location in "
ORACLE HOME\NETWORK\ADMIN" directory. see more.
after that open sqlplus, select tns entry ,give userid, pwd and will connect.
For better approach and GUI, you also install plsql or toad tool.

Install on the application machine the latest version of Oracle Data provider ODP.NET
and use the CLIENT INSTALLATION option when prompted by the installer.
Update your client installation tnsnames.ora file to include an entry for your remote database.
Ensure firewalls allow the traffic on the Oracle database listening port (default is tcp: 1521, but other ports might be used if changed from default on database installation or later configuration.)
For development work on SQL scripts and PL/SQL
you can use standard text editors,
or use the free Oracle SQL Developer (java app)
or pay for Oracle TOAD license.
I use all three depending on what I am doing at the moment.

thank you for you reply, I will be getting Oracle version and Oracle TOAD licence from my lead.
Also will get the development database connection details
I hope TOAD will be enough for development of SQL scripts.

TOAD for Oracle is the prime development tool used by many Oracle developers.
Oracle SQL Developer has come a long way in recent years in adding more features for development as well.
