Looking at the VS2012 RTM, there is no support for deployment projects for "Web Site" projects. So how do we do the stuff we did in VS2010 like: DLL merging, conditional web.config transforamtions based on a profile, etc.? Why aren't there any nice tools
for "Web Site" projects as there are for "Web Application" projects?
From a Microsoft employee, they are coming "within a few months of VS 2012 RTM". Quote:
When VS 2012 is released the publish experience for WSP will be the same which was available in VS2010 but we will have a release a few months after the release which will bring
all the publish goodness to Website Projects! This will include all the features which are available to Web Application Projects including; the ability to publish using.
Since VS2012 RTM'd Aug 1, I would guess you could see something in the October-November time frame - but I HAVE NO INSIDE KNOWLEDGE. They either haven't told MVPs or I wasn't listening. I would follow the .NET Web Development and Tools blog for an
announcement: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/webdev/
