I have a program that converts crystal reports to pdf. On the first of each month, the reports are updated. Right now, I refresh my reports manually. However, when I uncheck "Save with data" so it automatically refreshes the report, and I try to export
the file from crystal to pdf I get the error: "Database Logon Fail".

the error message clearly indicates that the issue is with the credentials to your database. Please kindly make sure you enter the correct connection string on your code.
Please mark this response as an "answer" if it helps you. Thanks heaps!

It always bad to save crystal report as "save with data".What happened I will explain you.
when you store with this option , it actually store all your existing details (like database connection string , userid, pwd ) with data with that all parameter or query.
If you not checked and given this file to some where else and when you check it gives the same record.
Whenever you uncheck this option, at the same time it will going to refresh with the credentials and if it not found in new location , it will give the above error.
So when you refreshed with this option crystal report store all this thing.
So always save report without save data.
In your case, just give credentials and refresh it. also untick option.
Definately it gives the proper result.
