I am not sure this is the correct forum, but I am having a very wierd issue with Visual Studio 2010 running in a 64 bit Windows 7 environment.
When I run Visual Studio with Admin Rights, if I attempt to go to the Start Options on the Property pages and just click the OK button the message "The operation could not be completed. Element not found." is displayed. Needless to say, I cannot set and
retain Start Pages or set any additional parameters such as query strings on the start page.
If I do not start Visual Studio 2010 with Admin rights, I can use the property pages with no problem. If however, I attempt to set the "Use Custom Server" option, I am told that this task requires the application to have elevated permissions and am given
the option of doing nothing or restarting under different credentials. If I accept, Visual Studio is restarted with Admin rights (see above for result).
I have been looking for a solution to this issue to no avail and am starting to get frustrated. Does anyone have an idea of what is causing this and more importantly how to fix it. I have installed every Windows and Microsoft Update (including VS 2010
SP 1) with no success. I am not sure if this is potentially an IIS 7 issue either.
I have the same setup (Windows 7 64 bit, Visual Studio 2010) running in a different site without the problems but cannot see any differences.
