Have a site running which was created in 2007 using VWD 2005 Express. Copied it all to a new Hosting site but when I try connection to the DB now on the new site it fails. The New Hoster has sql 2008. In VWD it works fine on my local machine. Also, I can
point to old Hoster with connection strings and that works. Using VWD to do connection on the new server I get 'Test Successful' but when I go to do next I get message saying "this server isn't supported". The lack of proper connection causes an Unhandled
Exception on my new site. This also occurs if there was no connection string. A Web test gets the same failure. Tried many combos of connection strings with no success. It appears something is incompatible with the new Hosting setup but all is well according
to their support in regards to strings and DB setup. Another interesting thing is that under VWD local testing the new setup gets the old DB data from original site creation yet the strings are pointing to the latest DB which was copied in. I have both the
original 2007 created site and the new created site with latest DB under VWD as different site names.
All thoughts appreciated. Thanks.
