I have been assigned to do some alteration on the existing web pages made with ASP.NET – C#
I have knowledge in VB code behind.. However I can understand the coding formats.
My question is :
1. The one who developed the website made .dll for all code behind files and inherits cs in to aspx files. If I do some modification (or) if I required to do changes in existing .cs files ….should I obtain .cs files backups from the previous developer ?
or from .dll itself I can extract ?? or any other simple way…
2. Should I Covert the .cs files to .dll or I can just upload into the server ; is there any advantage on it!
Experts answer required!
Assist me to take over the project.

You need to get the original project/website with all existing ASPX pages with code-behind files. The DLLs are created when you build the project/website.

yes you have to get the cs file to make changes. Dlls are created when a web project is published. You need to get the original project then make the changes and publish the project. if it were deployed without publishing it you might get the chance to change
that cs and upload it to server.

On the Published .aspx files Should I make any changes? Like if I wanna to make change on the SELECT statement I can? Right ? Also on the static Text ?
One more Q:
If I create test.aspx, text.asp.vb and uploaded to the server will it affect to the existing codes ? Will it throws any exceptions…?
However I will use the Master file… see the code on the .aspx file
<%@ Page Title="" Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/en/_MasterPages/defaultSite.Master" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="about.aspx.cs" Inherits="main.en.about" %>
