i have to develop a portal.where user can download form and submit his information regarding job.and accroding to exam he has to submit fees.and admin can generate rollnumber ,center allocation admid card and publish result.
which architecture should be follow to develop this portal. application should not be slow.for fast accesssing the application what guideline should be....
plz help me ..........

I think if I was starting from scratch on a project like this I would go with ASP.NET MVC 3 (or 4 if it is RTM prior to beginning your project). It has all of the advantages of extensibility, testing, and performance that would go well with a larger site

Honestly though the recommendation is just as abstract and high-level as the details you provided. There are so many points in an entire application that can make or break performance strictly based on how it was created. One design or architecture
vs the next many not impede performance natively, rather how the developers implemented the code.
I suggest MVC for it's improved architecture leaning heavily towards natural separation of concerns and testability vs. webforms out of the box. However you will really find what is appropriate as you beign to get into the specific requirments, as there
is no "One size fits all" answer to choosing an architecture just based on the type or nature of an application.
