I am able to create a database in VS App_Data folder after that I'm unable to create tables in that database through VS, even when I created tables by scripting VS is unable to see the tables any thoughts.

Try double clicking the database file under the App_Data folder. It should open up in the Server Explorer. There you can see the structure of the db and can add the tables.

I can see the db structure but the table folder shows empty, there is no new table or add table option when I do a right click on the tables folder.
Viewing the same db from SSMS 2012 I can see two tables, I'm still at a loss as to why these tables cannot be seen in visual studio 11.

I to am experiencing the same problem. I am creating a new table in managment studio yet it will not acctually create the table. It says it is saved but it doesn't appear under the tables list.
(er...) well after i restarted managment studio the table appeared???
