i am showing location, department and employee name & salary. all the fields are coming from same table. now i create a group on location first and then second group on department. all the group has group header. detail row has employee name & salary. my
report is showing perfect but i want to implement drill down technique. i want to show plus minus symbol for the group. i want that first report shows all only location name with plus sign. when user click on plus sign then all department will show under that
location. the same way when user click on department plus sign then all employee details will show under that department.
i search google and follow links are
and i followed their various instruction to bring expand collapse functionality into my report but failed. so please guide me how to show report location & department wise with expand collapse functionality.

loook, first of all lets add a matrix, then drag all your columns of the dataset one by one. Now you have a matrix with all the fileds and as per the matrix grouping will be enabled automatically.
Now the thing is how the toggling will work, its pretty simple.
first of all click on your matrix and at the bottm side of the IDE you will find two areas, Row Groups and Column Groups.
first of all if you have 4 columns lets say: lets start with the second group(column)
in second group >> Go the Row Groups>> Group Properties >> visibility >> for report is initially run(set Hide) >> Check display can be toggled option >> pass the
first group(column) name here >> ok
in Third group >> Go the Row Groups>> Group Properties >> visibility >> for report is initially run(set Hide) >> Check display can be toggled option >> pass the Second group(column) name here.
in Fourth group >> Go the Row Groups>> Group Properties >> visibility >> for report is initially run(set Hide) >> Check display can be toggled option >> pass the Third group(column) name here.
same thing can be done for more columns in group using the same. Just remember the concept, hide the group initially and toggle it based on the previous group(or your desired group) based on you want to toggle the current column group

1) u said drag matrix data region but matrix data region is used to display for column and row group. here i dont need column group then why i need to work with matrix data region.
2) u did not instruct if i need to work with matrix then which field will be used for column group and which field will be used for row group. please discuss in detail. if possible then instruct me in more detail. thanks

um, Select the textbox that houses the values which you are grouping by. Set the property of that group box's initial Toggle State to True.
