Looking for some advice.
I have a device that creates an XML file every five minutes and the file is accessible via web address such as
I want to pull the xml file every five minutes and import the data directly into SQL. I am reading a lot of posts that say SQL has the built in capability to read XML directly into tables. What I am not seeing in any of the writtings or examples is how
it paths to the file location. So, I wonder how SQL knows where the file is and how to access it in order to read it.
Is this a bad approach and I should just write a VB or C app on timer to import, parse the XML and input the results into SQL?
Hoping one of you XML experts out there has tried both ways and maybe recommends a particular approach as better than another based on what I am trying to do.
