i wanted to know. how i can upgrade an existing mdf file, which i used i visual studio 2010 (sql server expess 2008). So that it works in visual studio 2011
I would also like to know if it is possible to get the sql code from an existing mdf file.

You should not have to do anything, the mdf file has nothing to do with VS2011. The mdf file is a SQL Server file which is specific to the version of SQL Server you have installed.

I thing what you need is to upgrade your current project from Visual Studio 2010 to Visual Studio 11 Beta, You have nothing to do with your database as

yes. i know. but i have sql server 2012 installed. and this database was made with 2008. And i can't install sql server express 2008 on windows 8.

that is correct.
You can always make a FULL backup of your SQL 2008 database and have it restored on your SQL 2012 database. I am 100% positive it will work.
