It seems to be 20 minutes. I tried adding
to my web.cfg, but no joy. Thanks for your help!

This is session time out. Is form authentication being used then you need to specify the time out for cookies.
If you want to change the timeout value to be longer, you can easily change the timeout value in your local web.config file (the timeout value is in minutes):

Thanks I'll give it a try.
I put the line below in my server side code and it seemed to work.
Server.ScriptTimeout = 3600;

Good, your issue is resolved. I was not familiar with the startersite in web matrix.
Please mark it as answered.

Well, actually, not resolved yet. That code Server.ScriptTimeout = 3600 is actually for scripts not for the session. I spoke too soon. I'm still playing around with the Web.config, but can't make it work. I'm experimenting with short values to see if I
can get control of the logout time. You would think that would be an easy thing to do. Thanks for your help.

It looks like the mod below is working now. I needed to add the <authentication mode="Forms" part too. I'm not conciously using form authentication. I don't even know what that is. I'm just using the WebMatrix starter site with a form I put together.
It appears to be working fine for small values. Now I'm checking the 80 minute number. I'll mark resolved if it works.
<sessionState timeout="80" mode="InProc" />
<forms timeout="80" />

This works on my system. It wasn't working on my web site because I was sharing the IIS server so they weren't letting me change it. I'm not sure if I need the forms part since I don't think I'm using form authentication. Thanks for all the help!
