I get HTTP Error 403.1 - Forbidden: Execute access is denied. When trying to browse to a site other than localhost.
Ive given network service permission to the site, allowed script access, and asp.net 2.0 pages in the web service extensions.
I can browse to other files in the site, but not aspx pages.
I access the site by going to http://servername/sitename/default.aspx
I've setup a test header in the hosts file, I eventually get this error, it mentions v3.5 but I can only select 1.0 or 2.0 in the asp.net tab in IIS:
Timed out waiting for a program to execute. The command being executed was "C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.5\vbc.exe" /noconfig @"C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\root\47017c05\4b1865b\tf1dld1-.cmdline".
Can anyone please help?

Thanks very much for our reply.
v2.0 is selected when I go into the asp.net tab in properties, but I cant browse to aspx pages.
Have you any more ideas?

If you cannot access any .ASPX pages, this means that you do not properly install the .NET 2.0 and .NET3.5 properly. You need to consider reinstallating these frameworks.
Also, what version of IIS do you use? If it is IIS7, you can check the HttpHandler of your domain and these frameworks must be properly referenced on HttpHandler section.
Please mark this response as an "answer" if it helps you. Thank you so much!

Before you reinstall anything ... check your Handler Mappings. By default, they're inherited. When I had the same issue, I discovered that all the ASP handlers were inheriting a Disabled status.
