Can view state be maintained across multiple postbacks in a webgarden (without a state server running on the IIS) ?

In order to maintain the viewstate in web gardenenvirnemnt, each server in the garden must have the same machine keys which will be ued to encode/decode the viewstate.

I think you are talking web farm enviroment where there are multiple servers. In Web garden enviroment, only one server will be with different worker processes.
Can you please answer the question now.

Since the web garden is a group of worker processes which are running from the same configuration file,There is no special settings required to make ViewState work in web garden envirnment.An extra settings are required for maintaining the session,cache
and static variables since they will not be shared between the different processes.
