Hi, I'm new to SQL Server and think I may have caused a problem. I've been trying to Unistall SQL completely and re-install a fresh version, my first few installs contained errors. Anyway I'll detail below the problem I'm having removing it, any help will
be very much appreciated.
I should note I'm running Windows 7 64-bit and I'm trying to unistall the program SQL Server 2008 R2 (64-bit)
SQL Server 2008 Uninstall problem details
Note: Prior to attempting to uninstall this version of SQL Server 2008 listed below I had removed all mention of SQL Server 2008 within Control Panel > Uninstall Programmes
In control panel > Uninstall Programmes, I located the “SQL Server 2008 R2 (64-bit)” programme and clicked uninstall/Change
When I choose Uninstall/Change, I get a dialogue box asking if I want to 'add, repair or remove', and I click Remove:
When I click Remove, I get the Setup Support Rules dialog (just like I do for a new installation), and then when I click OK, I get a dialogue box asking what I'd like to remove, however there is nothing to select appart from a block of unselectable text
saying "Redistributable Features":
According to the dialog, nothing is going to be removed (usually you see actual features with checkboxes). I clicked the Next button anyway as my only other option at this point is to Cancel. I click Next > a couple of times, then I clicked the Remove
button, and then after several seconds I get a pop up error message dialog, indicating that the uninstall has crashed:
TITLE: SQL Server Setup failure.
SQL Server Setup has encountered the following error:
No feature were uninstalled during the setup execution. The requested features may not be installed. Please review the summary.txt logs for further details.
Error code 0x84B30002.
The programme is not removed from the programs and features list and on the subsequent reboot it adds a programme “SQL Server 2008 R2 Setup” to my programs list and once again won’t uninstall.
Again any help in removing SQL Server 2008 completely would be very much appreciated, please alo note that I'm not hugely tech savy.
