I am using mysql, and would like to be able to use the profile provider in my asp.net web application project. I found a custom profile provider, but it stores data in xml format. I followed the tutorial from here:
http://leedumond.com/blog/asp-net-profiles-in-web-application-projects/. Does anyone know how I can store data in standard database format? Has anyone tried sqltableprofileprovider with mysql?
If not possible, can someone please suggest how I can go about adding extra fields for the user whose data is stored using membership provider?
Thanks in advance!

You create a custom profile provider when:
You need to store profile information in a data source, such as in a FoxPro database or in an Oracle database, that is not supported by the profile providers included with the .NET Framework.
You need to manage profile information using a database schema that is different from the database schema used by the providers included with the .NET Framework. A common example is that you want to integrate profile information with user data in an existing
SQL Server database.
about Implementing membership provider you can refer to http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/f1kyba5e.aspx
