I am fed up trying different methods to come up with a good Crystal reports web application.
I am using user controls to pop up different reports. I am using Pull method (without dataset). I have multiple parameters for each report.
I want a webpage where I enter parameter values and press the button to generate crystal reports without crystal report asking me login or parameters value. Yes I am also exporting to PDF.
I wasted 4 days till now searching and trying multiple methods and getting strange errors sometimes the crystal report doesnt even ask parameters.

This looks like the fact your Crystal Report is not configured properly. There are several things to check:
1. Please make sure you install the correct version of Crystal Report on your server
2. Please make sure you use the correct Crystal Report assemblies on your web.config
3. Please make sure your crystal report operates under LOCAL SERVICE permission
4. Please make sure the FULL TRUST permission is enabled on your root folder.
Based on the problems you had, I believe you missed Step 3 and 4 above. I totally believe this is a permission issue, but since I want to make sure that everything is OK, I included Step 1 and 2 above.
Please let me know how you go. If you host this report on a shared server, you need to contact your current host. If they are not able to solve it, you should move to other crystal report host. One that you can consider is
asphostcentral.com and the demo can be found
Please make this post as an "answer" if it helps you.

the code remains the same. It is the assemblies that are different. For assemblies, you need to contact your current provider so that they can supply you one.

Reinstalling crystal reports with service pack 4 did help because when I installed 2008, it gave me no entry found error and I have to fix it by running hotfix 2.7 and I am not sure if this was the reason behind crystal reports behaving strange.
I suggest if there are abnormal steps performed by crystal reports go to
for finding out new hotfix and service packs. you wont get updates directly from crystal reports about service packs.
and also I had to make some minor changes in the code related to setparameters .
The below link worked for me very well. Thanks for the help.
