I am runing a .net Console App which tries to find a user exists in Active Directory by using his Email ID.
System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry objDirEntry = new System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry(strLDAPPath);
objDirEntry.AuthenticationType = System.DirectoryServices.AuthenticationTypes.None;
System.DirectoryServices.DirectorySearcher searcher = new System.DirectoryServices.DirectorySearcher(objDirEntry);
searcher.Filter = "(mail=" + emailAddress + ")";
//introduced for LDAP issue
results = searcher.FindOne();
catch (Exception e)
It returns errors like " The Server is not Operational"
"The directory service is unavailable."
"This operation returned because the timeout period expired."
Are all these errors related.
Please Help me resolve this issue.
