I recommend saving the solution/project/etc to disk when you select the "New Project..." option in VS.NET. If the project type you are creating does not immediately make you select a file location for the project upon creation, it
will the 1st time you go to the file menu and select "MyProject.sln As..." or just press the save button.
You can later right-click on the project and change how the project is ran (local development server, IIS, etc) in the "Web" tab of the "Properties" window.
Regardless of the structure you use to organize your projects on the local machine, I recommend saving them to disk in a know location (i.e. "Projects", "Development", "Coding" ,etc.), and not trying to save to the "localhost" IIS folder location.
