My computer is installed the ultimate VS 2010 and Crystal Report 2010 for VS 2010 on Window Home Vista 64 bits . I try to create the simple Crystal Report Website from a template and my report failed loading that caused by the following error:
Type 'CrystalDecisions.Shared.CrystalReportsException' in assembly 'CrystalDecisions.Shared, Version=13.0.2000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304' is not marked as serializable.
I don't know whether anything mising in my computer installation but I could not get risk the above error. I also built a sample Crystal Report website that I have created on another computer at work without error and ran on my computer with above error.
I did reinstall VS 2010, Crystal Report 2010 and Crystal Report Running Engine 32 bits or 64 bits but the error is still happening.
I really appreciate your time to solve my issue. Thanks in advance.

I think this is the error I got when I first set up my site. I was using Local reports, but there were references to Crystal Reports in the web.config file.
I think it's wanting some kind of install on ther server for Crystal Reports.

It is quite normal if you are experiencing issues when deploying Crystal Report 2010 on a shared server. Based on the error message you experienced, it seems that you have not properly setup/configured your Crystal Report on the PC/server:
1. If you see this error message: "Type 'CrystalDecisions.Shared.CrystalReportsException' in assembly 'CrystalDecisions.Shared, Version=13.0.2000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304' is not marked as serializable", this is due to the fact that
your PC is unable to find the right Crystal Report version on your PC. Please try to UNINSTALL any previous Crystal Report version that you have on your system and then, please install Crystal Report for VS 2010 there. You can go to
http://downloads.businessobjects.com/akdlm/cr4vs2010/CRforVS_redist_install_64bit_13_0_1.zip (for 64 bit machine) OR
http://downloads.businessobjects.com/akdlm/cr4vs2010/CRforVS_redist_install_32bit_13_0_1.zip (for 32 bit machine) OR
http://downloads.businessobjects.com/akdlm/cr4vs2010/CRforVS_13_0_1.exe (FULL package)
2. Once you have the CR installed on your system, please make sure you set your Crystal Report to operate on LOCAL SERVICE permission. Please check your application pool and make sure it runs under this permission
3. Please make sure the FULL TRUST read and write permission is set on your working folder
4. Please make sure you copy the CR aspnet_client folder to your working folder
Once you have done all the steps above, your crystal report 2010 should work fine. If you are still experiencing problems with your host, I would truly recommend you to migrate your service to
asphostcentral.com. This host has supported Crystal Report for VS 2010 and any earlier Crystal Report version.
If this post helps you, please mark it as an answer. Good luck!

I would like to clarify before I follow your steps. My computer installed both VS Professional 2008 and VS Ultimate 2010. Before I received the above error, I have uninstalled the Crystal Report 2008 and re-installed the latest Crystal Report 2010 and eventhough
reinstalled VS 2010 but the error is still there. One of the interested thing is my Crystal Report icon in the new web site having white and missing the green checkmark on rectange. Can I keep both Visual Studio.NET versions and install only Crystal Report
for VS 2010 only? Thanks.

I initially experienced the same problem like you have now, but I remove all the previous CR version and VS from my system. I just want to make sure that only VS 2010 and CR for VS 2010 are installed on my system.
Hurray! My reports start to work locally. Obviously, you have to perform all the steps I outlined earlier. Good luck!

I don't think that we cannot install both VS 2008 with Crystal Report Basic 2008 and VS 2010 with SAP Crystal Report for Visual Studio 2010 on the same computer. I tried to uninstall both and reinstall but the same error. I gave up that error and recentlly
I downloaded newest Crystal Report for VS 2010 and it worked fine now. Thanks.

I have a web server and one of my friends have a .net4 with CR 13, web site and asked me to Host it.
If I run app pool identity as Locl Service I have no error.
but when I change it to Network service I have error:Load report failed.CrystalDecisions.Shared.CrystalReportsException: Load report failed
I think its high secutity risk on a shared host to set AppPool to Local System, how can I change it to network service?
I tried All permissions like Aspnet, Network Services, IIS_WPG, iusr_host, everyone on /windows/Temp and root of web site with no rsult.

You need to contact your current host to report the issue. If they cannot fix it, you can consider alternative host
asphostcentral.com as your crystal report host.
