I have some vb code that has to run quite a few functions to produce the results I need. I'm curious as to how I can let the user know I'm still running. I know I could use an ajax panel or something, but what I want to do is send requests to the server.
this function is done, reset your timeout so I can run another function
I really have no idea on how to implement this. Any thoughts?

This is a little complex. Try to implement ICallbackEventHandler interface

You can use pagemethod for this aproach, through pagemethod you can call server side function and display user a message that server is processing. Once method is executed sucessfully (onSucess) you can display user the message that method has been executed.
For details of implementation see this tutorial:-

Thanks, I won't be able to get to it until Monday, I'm under the gun to have this thing working by Friday. It's not pretty right now, but it works. I just know eventually when we get more and more records, I will need to do something like this. I'll get
back to you on how it goes.
