I have a Crystal report with a datasource of tables from two different typed datasets.
Two of the tables come from one typed ds, and one the other ds.
They logically share a common key.
In the webform backend of the crystal report, I populate datatables using the methods of the respective tableadapters.
Every time I run the report, it is prompting me for username and password info, which it then doesn't accept.
The code to populate the dataset in the backend is as follows:
Dim taa As CHIMEClient_CAPACSrTableAdapters.CAPAC_SR_ApptsTableAdapter = New CHIMEClient_CAPACSrTableAdapters.CAPAC_SR_ApptsTableAdapter
Dim tasr As CHIMEClient_CAPACSrTableAdapters.CAPAC_Service_RequestTableAdapter = New CHIMEClient_CAPACSrTableAdapters.CAPAC_Service_RequestTableAdapter
Dim tap As ProjectAuditTableAdapters.Project_Audit_ReportTableAdapter = New ProjectAuditTableAdapters.Project_Audit_ReportTableAdapter
tasr.Connection.ConnectionString = csCAPAC
taa.Connection.ConnectionString = csCAPAC
tap.Connection.ConnectionString = csProjects
Dim dtp As New DataTable
dtp = tap.GetAuditData_Report
' WHERE (Notional_Delete IS NULL OR Notional_Delete = 'false')
' AND (Provider_Allocated IS NOT NULL)
Dim dta As New CHIMEClient_CAPACSr.CAPAC_SR_ApptsDataTable
dta = taa.GetApptTimeSlots_Reports
Dim orgunit As String = drpOrgUnits.SelectedValue
Dim dtsr As New CHIMEClient_CAPACSr.CAPAC_Service_RequestDataTable
dtsr = tasr.GetCAPAC_SR
Dim dtView As DataView = dtsr.DefaultView
dtView.RowFilter = "Org_Unit_Id = " & drpOrgUnits.SelectedValue
Dim dtSrFiltered = dtView.ToTable
Dim ds As New DataSet
Dim rptDoc As CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument = CrystalReportSource1.ReportDocument

The problem is due to the permission on your local folder and application pool. What permission did you give to your Crystal Report application pool? You need to give LOCAL SERVICE in order to run Crystal Report and you need to have IIS_WPG permission enabled
on your folder.
Hope this helps

By Local folder do you mean the folder containing the Crystal report under the web root directory? I will check with the sysprog re permissions.
I am not running into the problem when tables used in the report are from the same typed dataset (which just happens to be the same database)?

yes. Local Folder means the folder where you have all the reports. If you are still experiecing problems, you can consider hosting your reports at
asphostcentral.com. The crystal report demo can be found
