I have a simple problem that I'm not sure how to fix. I have a login system for a web application I built using Visual Studio 2010. Before I published it to a server, I was able to goto Project -> ASP.NET Configuration to manage my user accounts (Roles,

There is a problem with your selected data store. This can be caused by an invalid server name or credentials, or by insufficient permission. It can also be caused by the role manager feature
not being enabled. Click the button below to be redirected to a page where you can choose a new data store.
The following message may help in diagnosing the problem: Specified cast is not valid.
I noticed that under the Home tab on the Web site manager, the current user name is my machine name...

This indicates that SQL Express membership database i.e., ASPNETDB.MDF is used in application. Post your web.config, make sure that applicationName is correct in membership configuration.
