I have some text files I need to parse in order to display my data, and what I have now are two text files with lots of redundant data. Instead of this I would like to replace the redundant data with a number referencing the text in another text file.
Is this possible without losing efficiency?

You could write custom code in VB.NET or CS.NET using SYSTEM.IO,
parse, analyze, and replace values using your business rules.
Or you can load the file into a database (Oracle, MS-SQL, MySQL, MS-ACCESS, et al)
and create lookup tables on the redundant values and replace the values
with sequence numbers from the lookup table.
