I need a small help. I must use in my portal a URL rewriter. However, there are 2 issues I need to worry about:
1 - I have a dynamic navigation menu that is being displayed in the website. How will the links be shown: Display.aspx?ArticleId=234&mainId=2&subId=34 or the generated rewriting of the URL? If the latter how can save the newly created article on the fly?
2 - I have numerous and endless options to display in the website. For example I have tabs that are: News, Economy, etc. and in each tab there are sub categories and in each sub category there are articles. Question: can I have the user enter name the page
of the file that is being created to look something like this:
If so, how will this be implemented or will it be done automatically (Mulitple entries)? Keeping in mind that News has a different link page than Economy and so on. So I cannot set upfront in my web.config file fixed paths. This has to be done dynamically
because there are other parts I need to use the URL rewriting in such dynamic standalone pages like: WebPage.aspx?area=History, WebPage.aspx?area=Management, etc. which I would like to either use the area name as the file name (History.aspx, etc.) or have
the user enter the name. Again how will I present the links in the navigation menu? If it must be the rewrited URL then how can get the name generated and save in the DB right when it's created?
I need it very simple, straightforward and not worry about IIS changes and so on. I have read many threads and used different examples but I keep errors and nothing has worked so far. If someone can provide a straightforward code in VB (not c#) it would
help me a great deal.
Thanks in advance.

I assume you are trying something like "SecureQueryString"...
The aboe link is just an sample.....
For menu you can have the querystring attached to the URL and on menu databound split the querystring and make them as encrypted..
hope it gives you some idea...

No I am trying to display straightforward links to the user in all places all over the website (no parameters passed in the address bar) but they are acutally variables and parameter in the hidden section. Awny
