We have help links throughout our ASP.NET app. These help links are all to a specific help file based on the page and a bookmark/link in the page based on the control the help link is next to.
We started using HyperLink but hit a problem on globalization. We need a different help file based on the language (and sometimes country) of the user. So help/login.htm#password can be help/login-de-ch.htm#password (Swiss), help/login-de.htm#password (German)
or help/login.htm#password. And it needs to do all this based on what help files it can find.
Our solution leaves us with the following control:
<aspWindward:HelpLink ID="HelpLink1" runat="server" File="login" Bookmark="remember"/>
All that needs to be set is the filenam (which matches the aspx file in our system and therefore could be ignored) and the bookmark for that specific help. It then builds the entire link. This makes help links a piece of cake to put in the pages and to internationalize.
