I'm wondering if using EntityTemplates would be a preferred way of doing things like ordering MetaColumns or hiding certain fields depending on the page template. I guess it's just a shift in responsibility, but what would be considered "best practice" here?

Hi Chynes64, are you saying you want to have diffrent column ordering etc. in different pages?

It's actually more of a general inquiry as to the best way to approach certain things. I've read several of your blog posts on DynamicData so I'm familiar with what's generally possible with either solution. I guess I'd just like to know when to use EntityTemplates
vs when to use IAutoFieldGenerator and what the pros/cons of either option would be.
I'm a big fan of less is more, so if I can do everything without ever having to use IAutoFieldGenerator ever again that's great, but I'm just not sure that's optimal when taking things like performance and security into consideration.

Hi Chynes64, in that case column ordering is done via metadata, the idea of Entity Templates is for custom layout, although I have just published a way to use many different generic entity templates see Custom
