I had fun going on working with Oracle on Windows 7 64 bit which is my development machine. I figured out some alternatives, but now I am trying to add Oracle linked server on Windows 2008 Server machine. I am running Sql Server 2008. I have Oracle client
8i I can add linked server and map logins to it but when I try to test the connection I get this error.
The Ole Db provider "MSDAORA" has not been registered. Sql Server Error 7403.
I can see it in the Linked Server Provider Strings in the drop down too.
Please help, Thanks.

You should use the OleDB provider from Oracle, since the MS provider was not kept up-to-date with later versions of Oracle.
Hope that helps

The issue is not with the provider, the issue is none of the providers other then the default providers are not showing up in Sql Server 2008 Linked Server Dialogue Box Provider drop down. I had the same issue with Windows 7.
