I have a couple of forum subscriptions like the ASP.NET MVC forum and I have noticed that when someone creates a new thread that it takes up to 2 hours before I receive the email notification. Can this setting be changed somewhere because I cannot find it
in "Edit Profile".

There is no setting to control that in your profile. The site generally sends me emails in about 5 minutes of the post/thread being created. It could take longer if the site has a significant number of emails to process, but 5 minutes seems to be a pretty
consistent time for me.
If you are regularly seeing emails not appearing for much longer than 5 minutes, then there is probably something else unrelated to the site that is delaying your receipt of the emails.

Note: i have just now received the email of my reply. So i would think your email has also been sent. Have you received it?

Here is another example. For this thread I have received the email 3 hours and 42 minutes after it was created:
I have the feeling that there is difference between the ASP.NET MVC forum and other forums. Because posts in the Getting Started forum or in this forum are received within 5 minutes.

Email notifications are queued immediately, and are currently throttled to send out 1000 at a time every 5 minutes. Generally, with the way that Community Server is written, the newest emails in the queue are sent first. Normally this is not an issue,
as there are typically fewer than 1000 emails to send out every 5 minutes. There can be exceptions to this, for example:
The delay of several hours that you are reporting would be more typical of the #1 or #2 scenario I outlined. Unfortunately I only have email job logs for the past 8 hours, and I am not aware of the job being intentionally turned off or failing, so I cannot
tell for sure why you may have experienced a delay. I can tell you that the mail queue is currently empty, so we don't have a backlog we are chugging through.
If you see this happen again, please let us know!

OK thx for the info.

I am still seeing delays of 30 minutes and longer for new posts in the ASP.NET MVC forum. For example this thread was created as I can see as I post this approximately 1 hour ago:
But I received the email approximately 20 minutes ago.

Thanks for the note. The mail queue is clear, so it's essentially processing the notifications as they are dropped in the queue (every 5 minutes). I am not sure why you are not receiving them on your end in a timely fashion, but the emails are flowing
as they should. I have been receiving email notifications within about 15-20 minutes of the post being made.

Like the notification email for this post was sent within 5 minutes.... hmmm strange.

It could be that there are many subscriptions to the MVC forum, so that there are more email notifications to send out when there are posts in that forum.

I might be wrong, but was thinking if moderation of new threads can cause this? i.e. if a new post needs approval from moderator, how does the notification work? I guess, only after moderator approves notifications will be sent, correct?
