I'm using Visual Web Developer 2010 Express, and I'm at the point in my web application where the data from my database (SQL Server 2008 express) needs to be put in a nice format. So I decided that I want to use Crystal Reports, and I see some online tutorials
on how to implement them in ASP.NET/VWD, but I don't see any way to create a .rpt file or add any instance of Crystal Reports into my application.
How does this work? What exactly do I need to configure/setup so that I can use Crystal Reports in my web application and just in general, Visual Web Developer?
Thanks in advance! :)

I could be wrong, but I don't think that VWD Express has the tools for Crystal Reports. I think you have to be using the Professional versions of VS at a minimum.

you have to add a new item->Reporting->CrystalReport.
Once you add a new report, you should be able to assign a datasource and use it in your application.

There is no "Reporting" tab for me. I'm using Visual Web Developer 2010 Express. Is this not possible??

If I can't implement Crystal Reports in my web application, because I don't have the right version of VWD, what do you suggest I use for "visual representation" of data, where I will want the user to see a trend, and charts, and a load of data that's layed
out in a nice way?
I could always have a template Excel file, where user data is injected into that. But that gives 2 problems: (1) the user doesn't immediately see results, they have to download and view the file and (2) this assumes ever user has Microsoft Excel.
I need some suggestions on where to go with this problem. Any hints or advice are MUCH appreciated! :)

Did you manage to get your objective sorted out with regard to using CR with VWD 2010? If yes, please let me know how you did it.
