I am trying to integrate Office Communicator into an intranet app. Everything was working perfect locally using a combination of the Communicator API, jquery, and json web service. Then I deployed to production and received COM errors on the Communicator
API, at which time it dawned on me that I used the client-side API. There are quite a few APIs out there and I find the MS documentation on them rather poor, so I am hoping someone here has successfuly done something similar to what I'm wanting to do and can
point me in the right direction as far as which API is right for me.
I have 3 requirements:
1. Show the user's contact list (the web app is running with Windows Auth & Impersonation)
2. Show an individual's presence status
3. Achieve requirements 1 and 2 above without using an ActiveX control, and I
do not want to force our users to use Internet Explorer.
Any insight is greatly appreciated.

I haven't used it before, but have you looked at the Communicator AJAX services SDK:
