I have install Visual Studio 2010 (with ASP.net framework 4.0) and when I try to install SQL Server Express 2008 I get an error message telling me that .NET framework 3.5 SP1 is required.
I know in the installation of VS 2010 SQL Server Express is installed. However I need to have the management studio install. I have tried installing both the full version of SQL Server Express 2008 and the front end management studio for SQL Server 2008
only. With no luck.
Has anyone had this problem before and could offer some help?
Cheers in advance!

To install SQL server 2008 you'll need .net framework 3.5 you can download it from
here it's about 197Mb but if you install it via Windows Update it'll be just about 50-60 Mb, BTW which OS you're using....
You may also need Windows Installer 4.5 if required download it from given link.
After installing .net framework both should get installed.... :)
Reply if it helped.... :)

What a mug I've been. Yeah it is the .net framework. I was getting that confused with the ASP.NET version! Oh dear lack of coffee methinks!
