I use VS2005 on Oracle 10gR2. Using
Whenever i try to update same row with null (or empty) values on both date and numeric columns, it results in sending '01-Jan-0001' for date column and 0 for numeric column. I want the user to have the options of null or corresponding values for the update.
How can I achieve this?

Make sure the columns in the table are of Nullable type. Read below article to do the same:

firstly allow that column to accept Nulls
Update TableName set DateColumn=NULL,NumberColumn=NULL where rowid = 1

First allow you column to accept the NULL values (if nessery)
then if you want to update the date cell value then user "dateformat(column name with format) = dateformat(value with same format )".

Thanks for your response. Problem not over.
The columns are nullable. Attempt to assign null results in the Error " 'Null' is not declared. 'Null' constant is no longer supported; use 'System.DBNull' instead. "
When the update button (On formview <EditItemTemplate>) is clicked by the user, I want to test the value
being retuned back to the database. If it's null i.e. no entry into the textbox, null should be saved back to the database instead of '01-Jan-0001' for date column and 0 for numeric column.
I'm using business object method adapter.
