Even though you have installed .NET 3.5, the core library is still versioned to the 2.0 code base. This is OK to run .NET 3.5 projects.
To set your project to run under .NET 3.5 in Visual Studio 2008 select the probject in the Solution Explorer, in the Project menu select <Project Name> Properties option at the end of the menu. In the Application tab select .NET Framework 3.5 from the Target
Framework dropdown menu.
This will target your application to run under .NET 3.5 (.NET 2.0 SP2).
Hope this clarifies.

It is clarify a little. When I Response.Write(System.Environment.Version.ToString) I get ver. 2.0.50727.3603
When I run the same code from the server I get 2.0.50727.4200. After reading your reply I understand that I am running under .NET3.5 . What I dont understand is the version I am getting from the server "2.0.50727.4200",
are these versions compatibles ?

This minor changes happen in asp.net engine after Nov. hotfix, please install installing the KB974402 patch in your system, you will get the latest asp.net version or do window update.

I installed the KB974402 patch successfully but still when I Response.Write(System.Environment.Version.ToString) I get 2.0.50727.3603,
I would expect the version to change after the patch installation or maybe I missed something.

You might need to do an IISReset or Recycle your Application Pool. This will reload your web application and the ASP.NET Framework.
