I am trying to develop an asp.net web application which connects to oracle 11g. I am working on windows server 2008 64bit version and have installed 64bit version of oracle. therefore I cannot query oracle if I use x86 version (as version conflict execption
occurs). So I set my project to use x64 enviorment and tested my application but it showed me following error:
Could not load file or assembly 'WebApplication1, Version=18.104.22.168, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.
I searched on different forums but could get satisfying answer but one in which someone suggested that "AFAIK, the ASP.NET Development Server is
still only 32-bit (VS 2008)." thats why my application is not working he also suggested to use third party development server
I'm not very convinced that ASP.NET development server is 32 bit only, so I thought to ask here, weather ASP.NET development server is 32 bit only.
Can't I run my app in x64 mode?

As Visual Studio is a 32-bit application, so the ASP.NET Development Server is designed to be in 32-bit.
You can publish you site to your local IIS. Then debug the w3wp.exe which hosts the local sites.
Or there is a complex way which is provided by others and Microsoft didn't have it tested.
Be careful when you want to change some components of MS product, it may cause system destablized.
I'm looking forward for your reply.
