Have you tried a full uninstall of VS and reinstall? After the uninstall restart and after the install restart. Then download SP1 for VS2008

To uninstall vs2008 with sp1 and silverlight 3 how do I do all of this correctly. I hear it is hard to properly uninstall vs2008 this?
I then will install it all again

ok i installed vs2008 again and the option to uninstall appears as well now.
I then installed sp 1 again even though it still appeared and worked fine.
Now after I installed sp1 I have found I cant run setup vs2008 again from the dvd . Does sp1 cause issues with setup other than the add/remove programs in control pane which still worksl?
I am finding vs2008 one big headache and this is really confusing !

Check out this post:
Essently what they are saying is yes, SP1 does cause a problem. My suggestion is removing VS2008 SP1, then installing all the updates for VS2008, then install SP1. I did it that way on my XP Pro SP3 and Vista Business SP2 machines several times and it
has worked without a problem.

You can manually remove VS by deleting files, registry keys, etc. You can do a google search on manually remove vs2008 and should come up with several pages to search on.
