I have downloaded the lastest beta, and the Sept stable release both, and tried to add the controls to my toolbar in Visual Studio. I keep getting the following error when I try adding the AjaxControlToolkit.dll in the Choose Toolbox Items window of Visual
Studio... "Failed to creat ToolboxItem of type: System.Web.Ui.Design.ExtenderControlToolboxItem, System.Web.Extensions.Design, version=220.127.116.11,Culture=neutral,Public Token=31bf3856ad364e35". I sure hope I am missing something simple because I have racked my
small brain and searched all day for what may be wrong. I have tried both the standard version and the version with the source code. Now I can go into the samples and run the sample site and use it in IE8 but can't get it working in VS2008sp1. I have read
about all the problems people were having using the controls in Visual Studio and suposedly that was fixed in VS sp1 for 2008, but see I can't even get that far /sigh. It should be really simple to install the controls onto the toolbar, I have done it with
earlier versions of the toolkit on VS2005 and it was a breeze 1st grade type stuff (rollseyes).

Doh me, this is an old issue I guess, but not old to me so thought I would post this here for anyone they may need to know later. I ended up deleting the assembly binding redirect from the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Configuration tool and now things work
fine. Still working on figuring out how to load the Ajax controls on the toolbar when targeting version 2.0 of the .Net Framework but thats just a matter of some more reading. I can build Ajax apps easy now targeting 3.5 and thats the main thing. The url below
has explanation of whats gong on here and how to fix it, although it never said anythng about deleting the assembly redirect, I just did that out of luck and it worked, and I was finally able to load my Ajax controls onto the Visual Studio toolbar.

you can also try to load controls by click the button'Browse...' on .NET Framwork Components tap and then choice the Ajax Controltoolkit.dll from the new windows and click 'OK' to confirm.
