I have an application written in Visual Studio 2003 and another application written in Visual Studio 2008. I created two application pools in IIS 6.0 for two different framework.
I need to call Appl2008 from Appl2003. When I try to add Appl2008.dll as a Reference to Appl2003, I get the error message: "A reference ... could not be added. This is not a valid assembly or COM component...".
Does anyone know how to accomplish my goal?

You shouldn't reference a Web application like this. What functionality in the Appl2008 do you need to access? Can it be separated and added to a Class Library project, which can be used from both Web applications?

We need to gradually upgrade 2003 application (with classical ASP code) to 2008 application. It will take a year to rewrite the code, so I need to replace web pages written in 2003 version by pages in 2008 one by one.
The major application will still be in 2003 until all pages are replaced.
