I am using VS2003 for my project, I was able to debug before with F5, attach a procee etc, But Now I am not able to debug at all.
1. Opening the project with a startup page, Pressing F5 do nothing, it build the project (I can see the start/paue/stop button) and staop button is enabled that mean is has started BUT no page is opened in internet explorer and hence the breakpoint doesn't
reach at all. I Press stop and around after 2-3 min it stops the process and the internet exmplrer opens the page.
2. In other way if i attach the process and click on some button to bring the breakpoint, NOTHING HAPPENS, i can see the probress blue bar of the internet explorer status is moving bit by bit endlessly.
I have tried repairing/uninstalling .NET Framework 1.1 and reinstalling again. All project related settings are good, IIS settings are good and I am ADMINISTRATOR on my local machine.
Environment is WINDOWS XP SP2, Internet Explorer 6 (Yes 6) IIS 5.1, I am a domain user with local ADMINISTRATOR rights.
Please help resolving this issue.

If you create a simple ASP.NET application, does it have the same issue?
If we run “devenv.exe /safemode” to load only the default environment and services, do we still have the problem? This can eliminate the possibility that third party Add-ins are causing problems.
Besides, we can “devenv.exe /resetskippkgs" to merge the resource metadata that describes menus, toolbars, and command groups from all VSPackages available.
You also can check Window Event Viewer which records the exception of application in Application section.
I look forward to receiving your test results.

Yes I have tried creating a simple application with a label showing datetime.
When I press F5 to start it shows the project being build, and show the Play button inactive and Pause and Stop buttons active. It does nothing at all. When I press the stop button it stops after around 2 min and the internet explorer window opens with the
label showing datetime.
Other way if i attach the process and navigate to the page it do nothing at all.
I tried your above commands to start the environment.
I am a domain user running the application as local system administrator and all other settings seems to be good. I have got my PC rebuilt (rebuilt=Fresh Windows Installation) two times but the problem is still there.

Thanks for your response.
If you use another browser as default browser (Right click page and select "Browse With") such as FireFox, does it have the same issue?

Renaming the file symsrv.dll to any other name solved the problem.
Path is C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003\Common7\IDE
