Has anyone else noticed that just applying different behaviors like the watermark or calendar to their edit controls marks the record as updated when calling the dataContext's save method even though there is no data change? Is there a way to avoid this?

The corresponding TextBox would not be assigned value if you didn’t make some actions on the extender or set default value. But for your scenario, if the issue does occur, you can place a HiddenField control inside the same layer of the extender and save
the changed value in it in the extender’s client side event and then bind the HiddenField value into your DataTable field.

Ok, I got it working with using a hidden control that's bound. But it would really be nice if the behaviors wouldn't call the 'change' event if the input's value hasn't changed because it's a bit of work to get it working, and it'd have to be done every
time, with the calendar especially.
