i have created web site in iis 6. and create a folder in site path.. i have index.html file which we can browse directly.
for ex: http://localhost/LiveIT/index.html.
i can browse my site.
NOTE: Here LiveIT is not a virtual Direcory.ONLY A FOLDER.
now i have a handler(.ashx) which will be called when ever i want to dwnload a file. I observerd that .ashx can be called if LiveIT is a Virtua Directory.
What shd i do if i want to call .ashx file using non-virtual Directory.?

Double check it, when you run index.html from a folder , not a virtual directory your browser will not be showing:-
it will be something like c:\my folder\my pages\index.html
This is because that every browser can display htm files in it and there is no server side code in html files.
While when you try to run .ashx file, this file contains server side code and that is why it requires to be hosted on server supporting .net. WHich is IIS in your case.
