I have a .Net 1.1 Asp.net application that has been working fine for the past 4 years. The solutation has 17 projects and its bound to Team Foundation Source Control. A few weeks ago, one of the developers checked in his code, which included updates to
the Asp.net project file. Ever since then we have had issue, on all the developers machine, of running this web application in debug mode. We all get
Parser Error Message: Could not load type 'XXXXXX.Global'.
You can compile the solution and run the application fine in IE direct (//localhost/xxxxxx) but as soon as you press F5 to run it in debug it can not find the Web application behind code. I drop the Gobal file and it can not find the first page behind code
either. So its just the Global file that is the issue.
The first work around that I found to work was to pull down an old version of the web project file and replace it but now that does not seem to work anymore. I thought the project file was curruped, so I rebuilt it from scratch. After 3 hours of rebuild
it, found that we still have the same issue.
Around this time, we all did update our machine to the latest .Net patchs/updates that included 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5
Also, some of us had compile issues coping to the VSWebCache folder. This still seems to be an issue from time to time but not sure if this is the cause of the problem.
I have spent the last 3 days trying to fix this, read everything that I could fined on the internet but nothing seems to fix this issue.
One last thing, the web application project dll is getting really big, its 2,284 KB and not sure if that is an issue either.
Any help would be greatfull, at this point we are dead in the water

Just a guess, is Web application Set As Startup Project?

Yes, its the starting project and it launch into debug, just not finding the behind code dll to execute.

we have figured out a work around, if you go into the cache obj debug folder (C:\Documents and Settings\user\VSWebCache\machine\applicationname\obj\Debug) and delete everything then press F5/start debug then it works.
It seems that this caching folder is not getting updated with the latest code files or its unable to over right these files.
We did notice that once Office 2007 was installed and the new indexing service is load, that it was indexing the VSWebCache folder. I have told it not to index that folder but maybe its still indexing it.
Anyone else having issues with the VSWebCache folder?

For Web projects, the local caches are stored The User Profile Path\VsWebCache folder. It is majorly used in Visual Studio 2003. You can upgrade your ASP.NET 1.1 to ASP.NET 2.0.
