Seems vs2008 dropped support for mobile web applications. The mobile controls
can still used, but they are the same as 2005. if you google you can get
vs2008 templates for mobile web apps, but as the new generation of
mobile devices are full blown browsers (webkit or opera based), the old
mobile approach did not work. mostly you design for the smaller screen
using w3c html 4.0 standards.

It seems to me that MS has dropped the ball here. Yes modern smartdevices have full-blown browsers, however, they also have tiny screens, which makes browsing regular pages pointless in many cases because of the amount of horizontal scrolling, or zooming
in/out in the case of iPhone - truly an excersize in futility!
Yahoo has a hot mobile site, and they also make available they mobile development toolkit.
I'd really rather stick with ASP.NET (and Microsoft) since I have invested a great deal of time with these tools, but I also can't wait forever for MS to get back on track with mobile asp.net. Anyone at MS awake?
