I have a question. After I installed IIS 5 on windows xp pro SP2, I tried to test the IIS with typing http://localhost in firefox, and then a message box appear asking for username and password for localhost.
I don't set any username or password in my computer.
So do you know how to solve this problem?

Run->Inetmgr -> Select your website -> Rightclick-> Properties-> Select Directory Security Tab-> Click on
Edit Button in anonymous access section -> Check the first check box in the screen and click OK. This will enable anonymous access

Well I tried your solution but still it is asking for connection ("ID", "Password")
Problem remains same. I am even unable to connect to m asp.net website in vs2005 because it is saying that your webserver is temporarily out of service. I felt in tough deadline and need to submit some important clients work so please help it urgent.
I have reinstall IIS 6.0 with xp sp2 cd. Well I dont understand that why this problem came now because it never came with me previously and how does this problem generated.
I also restart IIS from services but not use , because it is working fine but I can create a new website from vs2005. I cant uninstall vs2005 because many dll and ajax controls are attached with it.

Hi Umaid123, I'm not sure, because you used IIS 6 and I used IIS 5, may be there is a different in the setting. If it is an urgent, I suppose you start a new thread. Generally, new thread will be read more by many user.
