I am running on a Vista SP1 PC using IIS 7.0. I am new to working with IIS.
I have created a new website and I have added it to IIS. It has a red X. I tried restarting the website and I am getting this error:
service w3svc was not found on computer
I look at the basic settings and the Authentication has a green check, but the Authorizaiont has a yellow yield sign. It says that it cannot verify access to path ( D:\path to website) In the Details box it shows this:
The server is configured to use pass-through authentication with a built-in account to access the specified physical path. However, IIS Manager cannot verify whether the built-in account has access. Make sure that the application pool identity has
Read access to the physical path. If this server is joined to a domain, and the application pool identity is NetworkService or LocalSystem, verify that <domain>\<computer_name>$ has Read access to the physical path. Then test these settings again.
I am not sure where to go to correct any of this.

The error seems to indicate that the web service is not installed properly. I recommend you try reinstall it.
In addition, you should consider posting this question to the iis.net forum (you can use the same login / password as in this forum).

I have tried to uninstall and reinstall. I am not sure of the options that I need to choose. Could you please let me know?
When I select more than just the IIS Control panel, I get an error stating that not all components were installed and it doesn't install properly.
I also downloaded the IIS 7.0 Manager and everything installed properly, I thought.
Thanks for your time

hmmm.. i really don't have a good answer for you.
Like I said in the previous post, you should get more qualified response in the IIS.NET forum.

IIS is being installed with the Vista Windows component installation. It is not asking for a disk. I have also downloaded the IIS Manager from the Microsoft website. I am not sure what else to do.
